Lake Mashu

Lake Mashu in the Akan National Park is a beautiful lake in the centre of a potentially active volcano. It is surrounded on all side by huge crater walls and it is said to be one of the clearest lakes in the world and one of the deepest in Japan. The lake is normally covered in fog, being able to see it is a matter of luck and patience. It can be seen from two viewing platforms, there is however no way down to the lake.
